The Good and Notorious Prisoner

DAILY SHOWER March 27,  2022 Devotion and Declarations

Prayer before the Word:

_O God, I thank You for making it possible for me to see the last Sunday of the month. Please, help me to be a doer of Your word in Jesus name, Amen_

TODAY’S TOPIC: The Good and Notorious Prisoner

Text: Matt. 27: 11-26 (NIV Bible)

"27:11 Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, "Are you the king of the Jews?" "Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied.

27:12 When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer.27:13 Then Pilate asked him, "Don't you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?"

27:14 But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge--to the great amazement of the governor.

27:15 Now it was the governor's custom at the Feast to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd.

27:16 At that time they had a notorious prisoner, called Barabbas.

27:17 So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, "Which one do you want me to release to you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?"

27:18 For he knew it was out of envy that they had handed Jesus over to him.

27:19 While Pilate was sitting on the judge's seat, his wife sent him this message: "Don't have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him."

27:20 But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.

27:21 "Which of the two do you want me to release to you?" asked the governor. "Barabbas," they answered.

27:22 "What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ?" Pilate asked. They all answered, "Crucify him!"

27:23 "Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!"

27:24 When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. "I am innocent of this man's blood," he said. "It is your responsibility!"

27:25 All the people answered, "Let his blood be on us and on our children!"

27:26 Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.."

*SHOWER:*

Over two thousand years ago, the world preferred a notorious prisoner to a righteous man (good prisoner). They insisted that Christ should be crucified instead of Barabbas. Today, the same thing is happening all over the world. We often deny, reject and replace Jesus through our mundane life. You may wish to ask "How?" What do you call your attitude when you replace your prayer time or Sunday service to visitations, parties and merriment? Reactivate your prayer life. Think over other ways you replace Christ to evil act. Then make an amendment before is too late.

*PRAYER/DECLARATIONS*

O Jesus, I thank You for feeding me spiritually. Give me the Grace to retain and practise it in Jesus name, Amen!

*1. The God in me is greater than he who is in them. Therefore, I will neither fear not stumble.*

*2. With God by my side, I shall not fall to the prey of the fresh. God will remain my utmost and number one in decisions I take.*

*3. I hereby decree and declare that as I see the last Sunday of the month of March, I will also see the beginning and last month of April and beyond with good health and joy in Jesus name, Amen.*
