TODAY’S TOPIC: The foolishness of Self Righteous

Text: Luke 18:9-14 (NIV)

"18:9. To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable:

18:10. "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

18:11. The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men--robbers, evildoers, adulterers--or even like this tax collector.

18:12. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'

18:13. "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'

18:14. "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

SHOWER (Reflection):

The life is simple when you live a simple life of glorifying God and preaching the gospel through your behaviour. Unfortunately, many have decided to become a judge under matters they do not qualify to mention. There those whose interest are to find fault and people to condemn every day or time. This is exactly of what we are seeing today in the life of a Pharisee. He was busy glorifying himself and condemning others. But the humble just focused on where himself erred and sought for forgiveness immediately. That is how God wants us to relate with others. Don't be self conceited! Don't be self righteous! It is foolishness. It kills. 

PRAYER/DECLARATIONS

1. O God I thank You for keeping me to witness today. I pray not to take it for granted in Jesus name, Amen.

2. O Jesus, I am sorry for all my sins. I pray for your forgiveness and empowerment to empower people around me in Jesus name, Amen.

3. O Jesus, do not allow me to end with the month of October. I pray to participate and win in the month of November in Jesus name, Amen!!!

TODAY’S TOPIC: Beware of fiends  

Text: Acts 28:1-6 (NIV)

"28:1. Once safely on shore, we found out that the island was called Malta.

28:2. The islanders showed us unusual kindness. They built a fire and welcomed us all because it was raining and cold.

28:3. Paul gathered a pile of brushwood and, as he put it on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself on his hand.

28:4. When the islanders saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to each other, "This man must be a murderer; for though he escaped from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live."

28:5. But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects.

28:6. The people expected him to swell up or suddenly fall dead, but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god."

SHOWER (Reflection):

The people around you may actually want you dead. But do not be disturbed. Just be careful and work with the Lord. He will force them to love you and there on, win more souls for Him. That is why the same people of Islands that set fire for Paul and others still don't believe in him. They saw him as a murderer immediately he was afflicted. But God whom he served came immediately to set him free. 

PRAYER/DECLARATIONS

1. By the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, my friends and enemies must see miracles around me that will force them to worship God, in Jesus name, Amen.

2. O Jesus, build my faith that I may live to glorify your name. Boost me and conquer the world in Jesus name, Amen.

3. O you month of October, you must not end with me. O you month of October, you must not end without celebrating me in Jesus name, Amen!!!

TODAY’S TOPIC: Listen and be saved 

Text: Malachi 2: 1-9

"2:1. And now this admonition is for you, O priests.

2:2. If you do not listen, and if you do not set your heart to honor my name," says the LORD Almighty, "I will send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have already cursed them, because you have not set your heart to honor me.

2:3. "Because of you I will rebuke your descendants; I will spread on your faces the offal from your festival sacrifices, and you will be carried off with it.

2:4. And you will know that I have sent you this admonition so that my covenant with Levi may continue," says the LORD Almighty.

2:5. "My covenant was with him, a covenant of life and peace, and I gave them to him; this called for reverence and he revered me and stood in awe of my name.

2:6. True instruction was in his mouth and nothing false was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and turned many from sin.

2:7. "For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, and from his mouth men should seek instruction--because he is the messenger of the LORD Almighty.

2:8. But you have turned from the way and by your teaching have caused many to stumble; you have violated the covenant with Levi," says the LORD Almighty.

2:9. "So I have caused you to be despised and humiliated before all the people, because you have not followed my ways but have shown partiality in matters of the law."

SHOWER (Reflection):

Listening comes with hearing, obedience and attentive. Our God is willing to save and change all situations when you listen to Him. Teach His gospel to people around you and beyond without fear or favour. If not, you may be cursed by Him.

PRAYER/DECLARATIONS

1. O God, I thank You for a new day. I implore You to forgive my sins and make way for me where there seemed not to be way in Jesus name, Amen.

2. By the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, I cancel and level any human, power or thing that wants me to incur curses on me or my family in Jesus name, Amen.

TODAY’S TOPIC: Do not ignore a divine invitation 

Text: Luke 14: 15-24 (NIV): 

"14:15. When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus, "Blessed is the man who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.

"14:16. Jesus replied: "A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests.

14:17. At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, 'Come, for everything is now ready.'

14:18. "But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, 'I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.'

14:19. "Another said, 'I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I'm on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.'

14:20. "Still another said, 'I just got married, so I can't come.'

14:21. "The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.'

14:22. "'Sir,' the servant said, 'what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.'

14:23. "Then the master told his servant, 'Go out to the roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full.

14:24. I tell you, not one of those men who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.'"

SHOWER (Reflection):

Invitation is a call or request to join someone, people or an individual in jubilation. It could also be a call to send someone a message or an errand. An Igbo proverb says 'Don't reject ignore an invitation. But you can ignore a message.' This goes to show how important it is to respond to an invitation. There are various reasons to respond to invitations... It helps you to jubilate and prepare ground for your own celebrations. It exposes you to various opportunities. Most importantly, it is a great honour you must not ignore because the host has equal right to extend or withdraw it any moment. This applies to our daily attitudes, lifestyles and reasoning when it comes to things of God. I don't know if you think that works of God won't go on without you? Soldiers come, soldiers go, barrack remain. He can choose anyone to do that which you think only can achieve. So, He can raise Mr nobody to do the work. He used David when none was available! And so on. So, change and enjoy.

PRAYER/DECLARATIONS

1. O God, do not allow me to loose my right to attend your banquet. Whatever that will deny me the right and opportunity to dine and wine You is hereby rejected and forbade in Jesus name, Amen.

2. Jesus, as I celebrate You today, celebrate me and make people to celebrate with me so that I won't lack again in Jesus name, Amen.

3. O you month of October, you must not end with me. O you month of October, you must not end without celebrating me in Jesus name, Amen!!!

TODAY’S TOPIC: The more you look, the less you see

Text: Acts 28:3-10 (NIV): 

"28:3. Paul gathered a pile of brushwood and, as he put it on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself on his hand.

28:4. When the islanders saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to each other, "This man must be a murderer; for though he escaped from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live."

28:6. The people expected him to swell up or suddenly fall dead, but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.

28:7. There was an estate nearby that belonged to Publius, the chief official of the island. He welcomed us to his home and for three days entertained us hospitably.

28:8. His father was sick in bed, suffering from fever and dysentery. Paul went in to see him and, after prayer, placed his hands on him and healed him.

28:9. When this had happened, the rest of the sick on the island came and were cured.

28:10. They honored us in many ways and when we were ready to sail, they furnished us with the supplies we needed."

SHOWER (Reflection):

When the Islanders were expecting the death of Paul, God had promoted him to a demigod. Wherever you are, what you do and whenever you want to do it, commit it unto God. The God in His infinite mercy, will surprise people on your head. 

PRAYER/DECLARATIONS

1. O God, give me a divine turnaround so that people who wished me dead will turnaround to worship You in Jesus name, Amen.

2. I pray to conquer and excel. I pray to win, transform and be promoted in Jesus name, Amen.

3. As I step out today, I step into favour. As I return back, I return with goodies, love and laughter. October will not end without blessing me in Jesus name, Amen!!!
