Why you must forgive

DAILY SHOWER July 21, 2022 Devotion and Declarations

Prayer before the Word:

_ O God, my King, my Your name be highly glorified for the gift of life. Forgive my trespasses. Please, shower me with Your unmerited favour. Show me Your way, and assist me to follow it to the end in Jesus  name, Amen_

TODAY’S TOPIC: Why you must forgive

Text: Luke 17: 1-10 (NIV):

"17:1.  Jesus said to his disciples: "Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come.

17:2.  It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.

17:3.  So watch yourselves. "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.

17:4.  If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, 'I repent,' forgive him."

17:5.  The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"

17:6.  He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you.

17:7.  "Suppose one of you had a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Would he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, 'Come along now and sit down to eat'?

17:8.  Would he not rather say, 'Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink'?

17:9.  Would he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do?

17:10.  So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty."

SHOWER (Reflection):

According to today's scripture, sin must surely come our ways. But it is for the person who was tempted to stand their ground and resist it. Therefore, you must forgive the person because temptations must surely come. And the bible says we should forgive even up to seventy times seven times (meaning forever because God, Himself forgives without counting our wrongdoings). It also made us to understand that when you forgive you set your heart and self free... Because someone who is holding grudges against someone will never be at rest, especially whenever the person or their memory meets. Verse 10 of today's scripture also says we should do what we are supposed to do and allow God to do the rest. So, cheer up and free your minds from evil thoughts, grudges and others else you die before your time.
